October 2015

The Autumn
Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1833)

Go, sit upon the lofty hill, And turn your eyes around, Where waving woods and waters wild Do hymn an autumn sound. The summer sun is faint on them — The summer flowers depart — Sit still — as all transform’d to stone, Except your musing heart.
How there you sat in summer-time, May yet be in your mind; And how you heard the green woods sing Beneath the freshening wind. Though the same wind now blows around, You would its blast recall; For every breath that stirs the trees, Doth cause a leaf to fall.
Oh! like that wind, is all the mirth That flesh and dust impart: We cannot bear its visitings, When change is on the heart. Gay words and jests may make us smile, When Sorrow is asleep; But other things must make us smile, When Sorrow bids us weep!
The dearest hands that clasp our hands, — Their presence may be o’er; The dearest voice that meets our ear, That tone may come no more! Youth fades; and then, the joys of youth, Which once refresh’d our mind, Shall come — as, on those sighing woods, The chilling autumn wind.
Hear not the wind — view not the woods; Look out o’er vale and hill — In spring, the sky encircled them — The sky is round them still. Come autumn’s scathe — come winter’s cold — Come change — and human fate! Whatever prospect Heaven doth bound, Can ne’er be desolate.~

Just like that a blink of the eye and Summer is gone and it is now Fall. The leaves are turning and the days are getting shorter. I love Summer but I have been really looking forward to Fall this year. Something about the crisp air and being able to wear my sweaters and jackets makes me feel warm and cozy.

October also means the launch of the Holiday Collections of both brands (Scentsy & Velata).  The Holiday warmers and scents are really something this year.  Scentsy truly has outdone themselves in so many ways.

Everything speaks of Christmas past and traditions that we had as kids growing up.  The Advent Calendar is something that I always admired and loved as a kid.

An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count or celebrate the days in anticipation of Christmas. Since the date of the first Sunday of Advent varies, falling between November 27 and December 3 inclusive, the Advent calendar usually begins on December 1, although many include the previous few days that are part of the season. The Advent calendar was first used by German Lutherans in the 19th and 20th centuries but is now ubiquitous among adherents of many Christian denominations. Many Advent calendars take the form of a large rectangular card with "windows", of which there are usually 24: one for each day of December leading up to Christmas Eve. Often, these windows have a Bible verse and prayer printed on them, which Christian families incorporate as part of their daily Advent devotions. Consecutive doors are opened every day leading up to Christmas. The calendar windows open to reveal an image, poem, a portion of a story (such as the story of the Nativity of Jesus) or a small gift, such as a toy or a chocolate item. Advent calendars range in theme, from sports to technology, often carrying Scripture verses. (taken from Wikipedia)

Today Advent calendars are a way for the kids to get excited and count down the days of waiting for Jolly Old Saint Nick!!

Counting down the days and getting a special treat for being patient and waiting!

I used to look forward to see what the next day would bring me.....OK truth be told I did one time eat all the days of the Advent Calendar all in one sitting.  My mom was so disappointed that I never did it again.  I felt terrible - I felt like I had ruined Christmas!  LOL but the chocolate was sure enjoyable!

Don't forget to check out the new Scentsy Diffusers and Essential Oils.  We don't promise to cure cancer or your common cold or flu bug but your house will smell and look great.  Scentsy has launched a special 3 oil package just for the holiday season!

Of course a new month wouldn't be a new month without a new Scent of the Month video.

Let me tell you this month's scent is just that awesome! It smells just as great as it looks in this clip.

October also kicks off the NFL and NHL Season.  And the end of Baseball.  I am not a Blue Jay's fan but I really hope that their Cinderella story pays off for them this year.  Ok why am I sports talking???  Well the October Warmers of the month are here.  YUP you heard me!  There is more than 1

Great for the sportsfan!!  Fits nicely in the mancave!!  Or in the Sports room!

You can choose a "Home Run", "Slam Dunk" a "Goal" or a "Touchdown".  There is no hockey to choose from so of course we took the "Touchdown" as we are a football family!  You can choose all of them if you like!

Velata products have made a huge impact in our home.

The Ceramic knives are amazing.  I don't use any other knife in my house now since I started using these.  I will caution that you should be very careful when washing them, as I did slice my finger the other day.  I still have all my fingers tho so I am ok!

There are so many new things at Velata now.  When was the last time you checked it out?  www.goodfunfood.ca

We're so much more than just chocolate fondues now!

We have everything from Rubs, dips, Raclettes, Crepe Makers, Cutlery, Cheese and much more!

Velata Freezer Meals are a huge hit these days.  Doing a workshop for a few hours with friends is a great way to prep for your family's busy week.

All the prepping is done ahead of time and the food is frozen until you are ready to cook it.  It's a great way to eat healthy in a hurry when you rush home from work and have to get the kids to soccer......  Nothing is worst than pulling thru the drive thru to get an over priced gut rot experience.

If you are interested in hosting a Freezer Meal workshop in your home with your friends, please let me know.  I would be happy to come over and run the workshop for you.  It's so simple and fun!  I give you a shopping list and the recipes and away we go!  Grab some wine and some friends and make it a great night in!

You can email me at jennifer@ilovescents.ca  or visit my site www.goodfunfood.ca
We are always looking for fun people to join our team!  If you would like to earn some extra cash for the holiday shopping season, pay some bills off, get a new car, go on a trip - than contact me!  Let's chat!  The possibilities are endless of what you can do!

Joining Scentsy or Velata has never been an easier choice.  We are currently working on an incentive trip to DisneyWorld Florida!  That's right!!! Matt and I are going to earn another FREE trip!  And you and your family can join us! ~Well anyone can join us actually!

Call me - let's do coffee!!!  Make some money and have some fun!!!
