Velata
We have some difficult news to share: We have decided to discontinue the Velata
brand at the end of the Spring/Summer 2016 Catalog season. While this
decision was a very hard one to make, it is also the right one. We would
like to help you understand why, as we know you may have downline,
upline, family or friends who are Velata Consultants or customers.
First of all, we love Velata -- the concept, the products, our Velata
Family Creed. But surviving in the specialty food market is very
challenging. Over time, as more and more retailers carry similar
products, it becomes very difficult to compete and grow.
Although many Consultants' individual sales are high, the business continues to shrink as more Velata Consultants go inactive each month than join the company.
On
the other hand, Scentsy is strong and growing stronger. We reimagined a
new path for Scentsy in 2015, and Scentsy's new product lines -- along
with flagship products like Scentsy Warmers and Scentsy Bars -- are
thriving.
This is a difficult time for our friends who sell Velata. But we invite and encourage Velata and Scentsy Consultants to join together to help make Scentsy the best fragrance company and business opportunity in the world.
I will be sad to see Velata go. But to be true to my heart, my passion is really with Scentsy.
I want to thank each and everyone of you who supported Velata with us and loved it as much as we have. As you know Matt & I haven't sold Velata for a while now, but do love the product and use it often at home.
If you are interested in purchasing Velata products before they are discontinued, please let us know. We would be happy to get you in touch with a consultant. It is quite possible that Velata will be discounted over the next little while. So if you are looking to stock up, now is probably the time.

Just like that a blink of the eye and Summer is gone and it is now Fall. The leaves are turning and the days are getting shorter. I love Summer but I have been really looking forward to Fall this year. Something about the crisp air and being able to wear my sweaters and jackets makes me feel warm and cozy.
October also means the launch of the Holiday Collections of both brands (Scentsy & Velata). The Holiday warmers and scents are really something this year. Scentsy truly has outdone themselves in so many ways.
Everything speaks of Christmas past and traditions that we had as kids growing up. The Advent Calendar is something that I always admired and loved as a kid.
An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count or celebrate the days in anticipation of Christmas. Since the date of the first Sunday of Advent
varies, falling between November 27 and December 3 inclusive, the
Advent calendar usually begins on December 1, although many include the
previous few days that are part of the season. The Advent calendar was
first used by German Lutherans in the 19th and 20th centuries but is now ubiquitous among adherents of many Christian denominations.Many Advent calendars take the form of a large rectangular card with "windows",
of which there are usually 24: one for each day of December leading up
to Christmas Eve. Often, these windows have a Bible verse and prayer printed on them, which Christian families incorporate as part of their daily Advent devotions.
Consecutive doors are opened every day leading up to Christmas. The
calendar windows open to reveal an image, poem, a portion of a story
(such as the story of the Nativity of Jesus)
or a small gift, such as a toy or a chocolate item. Advent calendars

Today Advent calendars are a way for the kids to get excited and count down the days of waiting for Jolly Old Saint Nick!!
Counting down the days and getting a special treat for being patient and waiting!
I used to look forward to see what the next day would bring me.....OK truth be told I did one time eat all the days of the Advent Calendar all in one sitting. My mom was so disappointed that I never did it again. I felt terrible - I felt like I had ruined Christmas! LOL but the chocolate was sure enjoyable!

You can choose a "Home Run", "Slam Dunk" a "Goal" or a "Touchdown". There is no hockey to choose from so of course we took the "Touchdown" as we are a football family! You can choose all of them if you like!

Velata products have made a huge impact in our home.
The Ceramic knives are amazing. I don't use any other knife in my house now since I started using these. I will caution that you should be very careful when washing them, as I did slice my finger the other day. I still have all my fingers tho so I am ok!

Velata Freezer Meals are a huge hit these days. Doing a workshop for a few hours with friends is a great way to prep for your family's busy week.
All the prepping is done ahead of time and the food is frozen until you are ready to cook it. It's a great way to eat healthy in a hurry when you rush home from work and have to get the kids to soccer...... Nothing is worst than pulling thru the drive thru to get an over priced gut rot experience.

Check out our Recipe of the Month! We use our fabulous fondue and delicious ingredients to make one-of-kind creations. Velata's as versatile as it is delectable! Recipe below:
Nutty Bacon Chocolate Popcorn
Servings: 8-10
1 pouch Velata Dark Chocolate
1 cup chopped or sliced almonds (or your favorite nut)
1 package thick-cut bacon
20 cups plain popped popcorn
1 1/2 cups firmly-packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup butter
6 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
Cook bacon until crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain and let cool.
Cut bacon in half-inch wide strips. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugars have dissolved completely. Increase heat until a rapid boil appears. Let boil for 2-3 minutes and do not stir.
Remove pan from heat. Stir in baking soda and vanilla whisking quickly until caramel turns light in color and doubles in volume.
Put popcorn in a large bowl and pour caramel over popcorn. Using a large rubber spatula, gently fold the caramel into the popcorn until evenly coated.
Mix in almonds and bacon until well incorporated. Transfer popcorn mixture to a parchment-paper-lined and rimmed baking sheet and spread into an even layer without crushing popcorn.
Bake for 45 minutes, stirring gently every 15 minutes to evenly coat the popcorn with caramel. Remove from oven.
Melt chocolate (follow pouch instructions).
Drizzle chocolate over caramel corn. Refrigerate popcorn until chocolate is set. Once set, break popcorn into chunks and store in an air-tight container.
March is here. What to say about March? What do they call this month? Hmm..... it's exciting because Spring is around the corner. Although you wouldn't know it, it was FREEZING out today and they are calling for snow. Matt and I had the honor of spending the day celebrating with a Boxer who is fulfilling his "bucket list". It was Romeo's 9th birthday today. His mom and dad weren't sure he was going to make it but he did and they had a huge celebration at Lafarge Lake for Romeo and invited all his Boxer friends. Romeo is a bit of a celebrity now. His mom and dad found out that the has bone cancer. They decided to help him celebrate his life by fulfilling a bucket list for him. He's done so many awesome things! He met Bif Naked, rode in a fire truck, rode in a police car, ate a Keg dinner, and now has been on CBC, and many local papers. He's such an adorable boy and his story not only tells us to cherish what and who we have but it teaches us courage and to live in the moment. Thank you Riina for allowing us to share in Romeo's story.
March is also March of Dimes. March of Dimes is a charitable organization that funds lifesaving research and programs and works to end premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. So its only fitting that we kick off this season's Charity Cause with the March of Dimes (in the USA). In Canada the Charity Cause contributes to the Starlight Foundation of Canada.
Meet Roosevelt the Rabbit. Proceeds from the sale of each Roosevelt the Rabbit will go to "Starlight Children's Foundation" Canada. Starlight supports children and their families - from the emergency room to recovery.
Both these causes are so important to families. And Scentsy has created a way to help both the charities.
